Instructions to make Shaljam Gosht:
- In a big wok (I prefer pressure cooker), add oil and onions. Sauté onions till light brown.
- Then add tomatoes, ginger, garlic and sauté for a minute.
- Add thoroughly washed mutton and cook for 2 minutes. Add all the spices except sugar. Mix well.
- Add water as required and cook till mutton is almost tender. Then add the turnip and water as required and cook till both turnip and mutton is done.
- Mash the turnip with the wooden ladle. Cook on low flame till oil comes up.
- Serve hot with rice.
